Alginate is a product of our principal FMC Biopolymer

They are extracted from different types of seaweeds. Alginates are polysaccharides consisting of the monomers Guluronate (G) and Mannuronate (M). Each type of monomer can occur in successive regions within a molecule. These are called G- or M-blocks. G-blocks can form a gel when calcium ions are present. This will happen in the characteristic egg box structure.
